A memecoin is a token whose identity comes from a joke or viral moment, not a product. Its price follows attention.
How to check it yourself
- Open the token on a block explorer and read its contract: most memecoins are a standard token with no product attached.
- Look for what the project says it does. If the answer is only a joke, a mascot or a community, it is a memecoin.
- Compare its price chart with its social activity over the same days. Attention and price usually move together.
